Common problems are often easily solved. Click on the frequently asked questions below to see how you might be able to fix a problem yourself.

Continuous paper jam

CAUSE:
Drawer tabs are open too far. Paper thickness does not match the settings. Paper is not in the tray properly. Paper rolls are worn. Dirty sensors.

SOLUTION:
Paper reloading. Retighten sliders. Adjust paper tray settings, for example to type thick 1.

Fax no longer sends/receives faxes

CAUSE:
Telephone or cable defect, country code, speed or ECM mode is not correct.

SOLUTION:
Calling fax. Verify whether fax line is in the line connection. 2nd call line support.

Machine shows place format xx

CAUSE:
The print job is sent to a different paper format is in the machine's drawers.

SOLUTION:
Check print settings and document properties. The document properties take precedence over and ignore the printer settings.

Machine can no longer print

CAUSE:
Network connection is faulty. Print job stuck in queue. Server spooler is stuck. Network settings on machine have changed.

SOLUTION:
Let institution's own IT department trace the settings, possibly with 2nd line support.

Machine can no longer scan

CAUSE:
Mail server or network address may have changed.

SOLUTION:
Let institution's own IT department trace the network settings, suck as the SMTP server, gateway and dns, if necessary with the assistance of 2nd line support.

Machine no longer prints

CAUSE:
A job is stuck in the queue.

SOLUTION:
Allow the system administrator to remove the jammed job.

Machine stinks

CAUSE:
Paper may be damp.

SOLUTION:
Place a new ream of paper into the tray and run the job again.

Paper problem adf

CAUSE:
Size detection problem caused by dirty sensors. Adf feed is worn. Transitional rolls are fouled. Piece of paper is stuck.

SOLUTION:
Blow sensors clean. Check whether there is paper stuck somewhere. Otherwise, schedule a mechanic.

Toner comes off paper

CAUSE:
Paper thickness is set incorrectly.

SOLUTION:
Change the machine settings to thicker paper.

Black lines on printed paper

CAUSE:
If it concerns a machine with an all-in-one cartridge (mostly HP), the cartridge may be defective.

SOLUTION:
Replace cartridge (even if that was done recently).
